Dear Macaulay Families,
It’s time to start your Spring clean out!
Hold onto your textiles because Bag2School is returning to Macaulay for a Spring pick up.
Once again we will collect gently used and no longer needed/wanted:
- clothes (men’s, women’s, children’s)
- bed linens
- stuffed animals/soft toys
- belts, purses
Remember, we raise funds based on the ton!
Be sure to tell your family, neighbours, co-workers that we are happy to have their items too.
Drop off your donations between April 18 – 21.
In honour of Earth Day, our pick up will take place on Friday April 22.
What Happens to our collection?
Approximately 80% of collected clothing is exported to Chile for reuse as second hand clothes and 20% enters into the recycling industry to be made into new products when garmets are ripped/torn, etc.
The textiles thrown away in one year in Canada could fill Toronto’s Rogers Centre (where the Blue Jays play baseball) three times over.
The average North American discards over 65 pounds of clothing and textiles each year with over 2 million tons of textiles being discarded in Canadian landfills each year.
