Swearing in of new student trustee

Taliah McNelly, a Grade 11 student from Fenelon Falls Secondary School was sworn in as the new Trillium Lakelands District School Board (TLDSB) student trustee by Chair of the Board, Colleen Wilcox, and director of education, Wes Hahn. McNelly signed a declaration of her intent to carry out the duties of a trustee for a two-year term.

Director’s report

Director of education, Wes Hahn, shared with trustees the areas that the system is working on that is directly connected to the 2022-2027 TLDSB Strategic Plan. Areas of focus include student achievement, improving learning environments, equity for all, and safe and inclusive spaces.

In addition to professional development that has already been highlighted at previous Board meetings, Hahn noted various sessions that have taken place system-wide in the areas of Indigenous education, equality, inclusion and well-being.

Hahn also noted the collection of data from parents/guardians, students, staff, and community members that took place last school year through various surveys and working groups. He presented the findings from last spring’s Director’s Student Voice Summit and Staff Forums.
