with legacy tables for Outdoor Ed centre, great connection and showcase
high school shop

o Working on photo album for grads

 Working on class arranging, trying to avoid splits
 Awarded a new classroom, 13-> 14 next year, figure out a space, Wolf

 Question: about classroom placements like younger kids across from
older kids, lots of dynamics to figure out arrangements including
cohorts and proximity to office to factor in
 3 new portables coming to replace older ones, furniture replacement
as well
 Thanks to council for efforts, lots of energy and hard work, looks like
new members are interested in joining
 Acknowledging communication lacking at times, looking to be more
regular with newsletter to the community at large, can make space for
council and mental health, streamline communication as well
 Question: looking for more social media usage and messaging, this
required personal account to access so working on IT for new
methods, would school council be an option? Look to TLDSB for
permission and comfort level, web page also to be better utilized,
perhaps librarian to assist, phone call reminders can be lessened,
reminder on how to manage notifications as well and what is an
emergency
 Question: bus too early on drop off concerns, needs to wait on the
bus until school opens then
 Question: contingency plans if teacher off? Some classes missed end
of year trip, some assistance coming to be more equitable across the
board anyway for trips, can share costs with other schools as well,
this could assist with this type of situation in the future
 Willing to meet council rep in August to prep for new year
- Fundraising update
o Mini putt, made $670, kids going tomorrow get free ice cream, very generous
as usual, next year is already scheduled for Thurs June 3rd
o Saplings, had initially ordered 500 but adjusted to 250, made about $460
o Value Village, goal amount showed more but issue with website, just under
$500 after van rental and sweat equity so will rethink later - Financial update
o Wagon refill $157.88, $366 only went out to classrooms
o Still need bussing and Cedar Canoe GC to helpers to go out
o Movie and mini putt passes already handed out but more to go
o Started at $2700, had moved $1500 to legacy, lots of successful events
 Total $8700 brought in this year from fundraising
 Swing sponsors to move to legacy
o Expenditures left $2793
 After balance is $7556
o Legacy is now at $17,843 for swing sets - New time capsule ideas at welcome back BBQ? Elections for council same day 23rd
- MOTION: move $5500 from account to Legacy – approved
- Fundraiser engagement for fall
o Howler falls Oct 29th
o Holiday skate dinner on first week of break or day of the week, gives people
time to plan, 18-20th available?
o New thoughts for admission and pizza pricing? Despite messaging, some
questions keep coming up about where money goes and costs adding up - District updates attached notes
o Speaker advise focusing on 7-9 reading skills, teachers need support
o TLDSB balanced budget being presented
o Outdoor learning centre blessed by indigenous leaders, looking for firepits
and upgrades next
o TLDSB looking for homework guidelines, screen vs pen and paper
o 1:1 devices being removed -> pen to paper, 2:1 tech
o Board is building policy and procedures on AI
o Attendance still a topic
o Dr Sarah Hallett, psychologist, behavioural speech *including links to attach
to minutes - Swing set requisition is in but no date, prices are still being honoured despite delay,
some designs still being discussed - ROUNDTABLE: volunteer reminder for updating vulnerable sector, Krista submitted
annual report and got OK from the board, calendar print out response seems helpful
but kids getting it home is still an issue, newsletter successful as well
